I found pontypool to be kinda creepy for a zombie like flick.
Let the right one in is pretty good too. Not really scary though.

I own Event Horizon! I love that movie!
The first time I watched it was with a group of people in Jr High, one girl left the room and CRIED for an hour!!! She only saw the first half!

Pet Semetary scared me more than any other horror movie. Something about the character Zelda, who is a bed ridden girl dying form spinal meningitis, just creeps the shit out of me. I saw the movie when i was 10, and to this day if it's on TV I'll change the channel before Zelda appears.

Ok, so let the right one in was a bit of a disappointment compared to the book. I still enjoyed it, but I was hoping for a lot more gore. Also, throughout the movie there was a lot of "silence" where they could have been using that time to fill in some gaps about characters or story line. It was missing a ton of info.

Yea, i definitely should have watched it first. I wouldn't have minded the silence and stuff if they would have explained the story a bit better.
But I DID enjoy it!

Here's how I took it, and I'm hardly a movie nerd/buff. But, they could only do a certain amount in the movie (the classic problem with converting a book to a movie) so they chose the burgeoning relationship of Eli and Oscar somewhat juxtaposed with the waning relationship between Eli and Hakan. I thought the movie was able to capture Eli and Oskar without just telling us backstory (I hate it when they try to tack on the backstory because they can't find a way to work it into the movie). Yes it missed lots of detail and story, but still captured the emotion behind the relationship if not fully behind every character. Plus it's just such a great story and what a great backdrop (Sweden and the gritty piece they chose that is)!

Horror movies are generally not scary. For good suspensey horror type movies, I really enjoyed Gothika. I also have recently been on a Prophecy kick. I downloaded all five Prophecy movies and have made my way through 1 and 2.

sleepaway camp! excellent. any other suggestions?
i highly recommend the dentist II, if you haven't already seen it. it kinda makes sense to watch the original first, but it's not nearly as awesome, so i'd skip it. jack frost is also pretty rad... make sure to find the one where an evil snowman rapes shannon elizabeth though, not the family-friendly michael keaton one.

I make it a personal rule to watch the movie before reading the book. Also, you had mentioned Cube... I watched it the other night. It was... different. The acting was pretty bad, but the concept was awesome.

I usually watch the movie first, but I was convinced otherwise in this specific situation, I will never listen to those traitor types again!

Cube II: Hypercube is higher budget, but really, there isn't much new that's worthwhile.
